August Update: Canvas + Fantasy

This is short update as I'm really busy recently and it looks will be till mid-October.

Tech:

HTML5 Canvas Tutorial by Eric Rodwell  - really good site! Strongly recommended!



HTML5 Canvas Cookbook by Eric Rowell - tutorial is better because interactive :) If you're going to run all code samples and play with them then it makes sense to buy it. Of course buying this book is a good way to help author :)

Clojure - Functional Programming for the JVM - unfortunately it is too boring for me, long and lacks any story/structure. Maybe good to easy find something you need by Ctrl-F. (No link because this is boring :)


Non-tech:



Painted Man - Petera V. Bretta. - rather good 6/10





The Battle for Skandia: Book Four (Ranger's Apprentice) by John Flanagan - good for lazy day :)

 short "How to read faster"  from personalMBA - really short and I knew most of it...





The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time, Book 1) by Robert Jordan - not really impressive story but good to read. I've read somewhere that consequent books are better. 





The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandre Clare - really good book! Much better than I thought! :) Can recommend as easy book for lazy afternoon :)

In progress:

  3. MongoDB 5-week course (2 weeks already done!)
  4. Memrise: Upper Intermediate Course


Postponed:

  1. Memrise: Advanced Vocabulary (I want to first finish Upper Intermediate Course)

  2. Good Math by Mark C. Chu-Carroll
Next month will be really about work and holiday so I will have much less time. 
I hope to finish MongoDB course and use Memrise/read books as I can with the same priority.

Update: If you use Chrome then you can use "Throttling" so simulate slow network for all your assets. This should be easier than proxy. Toggle device mode   Choose Network type. Safari Mobile CSS VW and VH units bug.

Recently we have created new version of mobil.aftenposten.no but soon after serving it to some users we spot this tweet:  https://twitter.com/Al3x4nd3rR/status/452047498111369216 . Basically titles were missing.... Then it started our effort to reproduce this bug. ... It was nightmare! First how to reproduce it: Open  http://krzychukula.github.io/vw_bfcache/  in Mobile Safari.  Click "Go to another page" link Leave phone for 60 seconds (longer is better) Click back button If you were lucky you should see some missing paragraphs and missing green boxes. How it looks: Bug: This one uses vw and vh for font-size. Both are 0 so we can see only 2 from 8 paragraphs. Those two are using only em for font-size. I was curious if it's only for font-size so I have added another test. I have added two boxes with width and height set in vw and vh with green background color.
